Patriarch of Alexandria Theodoros II begins historic US visit

The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, arrived in the United States on Wednesday for an official visit.
His Beatitude and an entourage of hierarchs of the Alexandria Patriarchate were welcomed by the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros.
The historic visit marks the first ever to the United States by an enthroned Patriarch of Alexandria.
His Beatitude’s stay will continue until next Wednesday, and will include meetings with local religious and civic leaders as well as visits to a number of Greek-Orthodox communities in both greater New York City and Washington, DC.
