Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije attends remembrance service on 80th anniversary of Novi Sad massacre

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, on Thursday afternoon attended a memorial and remembrance service in Belgrade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Novi Sad massacre, in the southern Bačka region. Between 3,000 and 4,000 civilians were killed by the armed forces of Axis partner Hungary during the pogrom.
His Holiness was accompanied by several hierarchs of the Serbian Church’s Holy Synod of Bishops, with the Bishop of Bačka, His Grace Irinej, recounting the tragic and unspeakable atrocities that took place against civilians.
