Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije, Montenegro PM Abazović refer to breakthrough over so-called ‘Fundamental Agreement’

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, on Thursday received visiting Montenegro Prime Minister Dritan Abazović at the Patriarchal seat, with both sides later briefing reporters that a consensus has been reached over a so-called “Fundamental Agreement” has been reached.
His Holiness declared that “…Beginning from the fact that the Church is separate from the state and that our Church, wherever it has its jurisdiction, respects the laws of that state, we concluded that it is important that the relationship between church and state is regulated by a contract, as is the case with all religious communities, as it exists in all other states.”
