Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije to attend consecration of restored Church of the Holy Apostles Peter & Paul in Tesla birthplace of Smiljan

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, will travel to the village of Smiljan this week to attend con-celebratory services for the feast day of the Holy Prophet Elijah, as based on the Julian calendar.
His Holiness will arrive at the village, located in the mountainous region of western Lika in Croatia, at the invitation of the Orthodox Bishop of Upper Karlovac, His Grace Gerasim.

In Smiljan, the birthplace of renowned Serbian scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla, the Patriarch will officiate at the holy liturgy and consecrate the restored Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.

The historic visit by the Serbian Patriarch coincides with the solemn anniversary of the martyrdom of the Serbs of Smiljan in 1941.
