Patriarchate of Jerusalem commemorates appearance of Precious Cross, miracle of 351
The Patriarchate of Jerusalem on Wednesday commemorated the appearance of the Precious Cross in the sky over Jerusalem, based on the Julian calendar.
The Church commemorates the day in 351, not long after Cyril had succeeded Maximus as Archbishop of Jerusalem, when the sign of the Cross appeared over Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
A Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, officiated by the Metropolitan of Elenoupolis, His Eminence Joachim. Afterwards, a litany, with the participation of Church hierarchs, was held around the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, but without the presence of worshipers, due to Covid-19-related restrictions.
