Patriarchate of Jerusalem: Decision by Israeli high court regarding property seizure ‘unfair’
The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem this week criticized a recent decision by an Israeli high court to uphold property confiscations at Jerusalem’s Jaffa Gate, calling the ruling unfair.
According to local media, the Patriarchate said its legal advisers are studying the ruling, in cooperation with international law experts, in order to consider all avenues to overturn the decision and reverse the property confiscations.
The Patriarchate also underlined that the development will have a negative impact on the Christian presence in the Holy City.
A statement by the Patriarchate noted that “…the existence of a vibrant Christian community in Jerusalem is necessary for the preservation of a historically diverse society and the achievement of peace in this city.
