Hundreds of Muslim Turks on Friday again paid an annual pilgrimage to the Greek Orthodox chapel of St. George of Koudouna, located at the summit of the small Marmara Sea isle of Prinkipo
April 23, the feast day of the Great and Triumphant Martyr, falls on a national holiday in Turkey, with day-trippers from Constantinople filling ferry boats from the mainland to reach Prinkipo.

Pilgrims, regardless of religion, have for centuries supplicated St. George the Megalomartyr, with the local adage stressing that “…the saint makes no distinction between Christian and non-Christian, He cares for all.”
