President Sakellaropoulou speaks with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew
President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Friday spoke on the phone with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who she thanked for his good wishes upon her assumption of office, while she also expressed her support for the ordeal facing both ethnic Greeks and the Church due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On his part, the Ecumenical Patriarch thanked Sakellaropoulou for her solidarity and reassured her that, in spite of the difficulties, he will always be close to the faithful, using the capabilities offered by digital means of communication.
Sakellaropoulou also thanked him for the Partriarchate’s support to Greece in the battle against coronavirus and expressed the wish, on behalf of herself and of all Greeks, that the human values of compassion and solidarity that prevail during these holy days will help in overcoming the crisis as soon as possible.
