Presidents of Romania, Republic of Moldova visit Orthodox parish near Chișinău
Romanian President Nicușor Dan and Moldovan President Maia Sandu visited on Sunday the “Protection of the Mother of God” Church in the village of Ghidighici, near Chișinău.
Parish priest Maxim Melinti presented to them the old church, the new church currently under construction—dedicated to the “Transfiguration of the Lord”—and the “Island of Happiness” Social Centre, where catechetical, charitable, and social projects are carried out.
“I express my deep gratitude to the distinguished guests for their love and for taking the time from their schedules to make this historic visit to the Orthodox Parish of Ghidighici!” the cleric wrote on Facebook.
Romanian President Nicușor Dan spent the past weekend on a private visit to the Republic of Moldova, where he went on a hike with his family on the Condrița estate, near Chișinău, and, together with President Maia Sandu, attended the Wolves Festival in the Orheiul Vechi nature reserve.
