A Greek ministry participated with its own pavilion at an international tourism exhibition this week in Sofia, with the aim being to promote and showcase religious tourism and pilgrimages to northern Greece.
Macedonia-Thrace Minister Theodoros Karaoglou represented Athens at the exhibition, where he met with local reporters and tourism sector executives.

He noted that “… for us, religious tourism is a multi-faceted challenge; it comprises a powerful attraction for a significant number of visitors, with management of these flows requiring heightened attention and respect…Greece is obliged to exploit its ecclesiastical and cultural heritage, tapping into its huge religious wealth in order to bring closer those seeking the true values of faith, hope and love, because Orthodoxy is the civilization of our soul.”
