Turkish provocations continued unabated this week throughout the east Mediterranean and Near East, with the autocratic and now unabashedly Islamist Erdogan regime engaging in illegal hydrocarbon exploration in waters that Ankara unilaterally claims as its own, along direct Turkish involvement and meddling in military conflicts in the Caucasus, throughout the Levant and Libya, and lastly, even blocking an aircraft carrying Greece’s foreign minister from entering Turkish airspace.

The executive jet carrying Greek FM Nikos Dendias from an official visit to Iraq was kept in a circular pattern on Wednesday evening after Turkish air traffic controllers declined to approve its path into Turkish airspace, even though a flight plan had been previously submitted and approved.

Turkish authorities relented when the pilot reported that he would have to change destinations and head for an alternative airport, given the remaining fuel aboard the aircraft.
