Putin congratulates Patriarch Kirill on name day, suggests he loosen up work schedule

Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia for his contribution to strengthening the country and asked him to take more care of himself.

“I want to congratulate you on your Name Day and thank you for your cooperation in strengthening our country, and certainly for your contribution to strengthening the Russian Orthodox Church and thus to strengthening our whole country, the whole of Russia,” Putin said at a meeting with the patriarch on Friday.

“Your closest aides won’t tell you this but I will: adjust your schedule toward easing the load,” Putin said.

The patriarch thanked the president for his cooperation and the present interaction between state and Church. “There are a great deal of good deeds being done, which is evident to the naked eye. So I think that whatever’s happening in this part of the public-Church relationship, it’s all strengthening our people’s lives, spiritual life; leading to the peace, welfare, and prosperity of our society,” Patriarch Kirill said.
