Reports: Serbian Church, Podgorica govt near agreement over Metropolitanate of Montenegro’s standing

Press reports in Serbia this week referred to an agreement between the prime minister of Montenegro, Zravko Krivikapic and the Serbian Orthodox Church regarding the legal status of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.

In a statement, the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, said he was confident that the signing of such a landmark agreement between the Church and the Montenegro state will end whatever misunderstandings found at the public and political level. His Holiness said there was no need for tension and misunderstanding, given that such an agreement is signed in numerous countries, especially in Europe.
