Works are continuing on the historic church of St. Demetrius of Krusevac, in the Montenegro capital of Podgorica, with the 19th century cathedral’s wooden roof restored.

The specific church was the object of a legal battle for decades, as the Orthodox place of worship had been confiscated by the state and used as a morgue, while at one point, it had been designated as a mosque.

The building was finally returned to the Orthodox Church in 2017, after a high court decision.

The inspiration behind the church’s restoration was reposed Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amphilochios.
