Restoration works begin at 14th century Serbian Church of St. Nicholas Raikov, in Kosovo & Metohija
Restoration works commenced this week at the historic 14th century Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas Raikov, which is located in the Kosovo and Metohija city of Prizren.
It’s reminded that Kosovo Albanian extremists had attempted to blow up the church in 1999. Although significant damage was caused, the place of worship remained standing.
In statements to local media, the Bishop of Raska and Prizren, His Grace Theodosije, decried the fact that extremists had engaged in the systematic destruction of churches and Christian monuments in the breakaway province.
He added that “…it now seems that things have changed, and they’re now trying to appropriate the monuments as their own.”
