Romanian Ambassador to Chile awarded Centennial Medal of Romanian Patriarchate
Romania’s Ambassador to Chile, Floricel Paul Mocanu, has received the Diploma and Medal of the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate.
The distinction, granted by Patriarch Daniel, was presented by Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas during a historic visit to Latin America.
The award ceremony took place during a symposium organised last weekend by the Romanian Embassy in Chile, dedicated to the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate (1925–2025).
Participants included Metropolitan Nicolae, Father Daniel Ene, administrative vicar of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of the United States; Ambassador Floricel Paul Mocanu; representatives of other embassies in Chile; and members of local churches and denominations.
The meeting was opened by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae, who recalled the moment when the Romanian Orthodox Church was elevated to the rank of Patriarchate in 1925, highlighting the providential character of this step and the responsibility of today’s generations to preserve the received heritage.
For his part, Ambassador Floricel Paul Mocanu emphasised that 2025 marks not only the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate but also 100 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Chile.
