Romanian officials discuss Orthodox pastoral care and Christian solidarity in Italy
The President of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, MP Ionuț Vulpescu, and Romania’s Ambassador to the Holy See, His Excellency George Bologan, were received on Monday by Bishop Siluan at the headquarters of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy.
During their meeting with Bishop Siluan, the discussion emphasized and appreciated the spiritual and social assistance provided to Romanians living abroad, as well as the importance of dialogue with other Christian denominations.
The officials highlighted that the value of solidarity, as promoted by Christianity, is the path to peace and the holistic development of both individuals and society, according to an announcement from the Romanian Embassy to the Holy See.
Dialogue on Ethics and Politics
Before they visited the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy, the two officials met at the Romanian diplomatic mission to establish new directions for collaboration.
Their discussions also delved into the relationship between ethics and politics—an increasingly sensitive and complex topic today. The embassy noted that while this subject may be delicate, it is essential to address it in order to prevent superficial or misleading interpretations.
“The values of coexistence cannot be considered independently from the religious factor,” the Romanian Embassy to the Holy See stated in an official Facebook post.
