Russian lawmakers to consider making Easter Monday a federal holiday
Members of Russia’s state Duma, the lower legislature, are expected to begin debate on declaring the Monday after Easter, known as Easter Monday, as a national holiday in the world’s largest country.
Deputies of the Liberal Democratic Party said the legislation of an Easter Monday federal holiday would show the state’s respect towards the historic traditions of the Orthodox Church in Russia, while also pointing to a similar holiday observed in west European countries.
