Russian Patriarch arrives in Baku for summit of world religious leaders
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, arrived in the Azerbaijan capital of Baku on Thursday, in order to attend the 2nd Baku Summit of World Religious Leaders.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was met at the city’s airport by the Archbishop of Baku and All Azerbaijan, His Eminence Alexander, diplomats and government officials.
At the same time, the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, who is accompanying the Russian Patriarch on his visit, this week referred to the Internet’s social media platforms as particularly interesting, saying the Church must concentrate on reaching younger generations through such channels.
Hilarion is also the head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations (DECR).
