Every adult remembers where they were on 9-11-01. The day when over 3,000 souls tragically lost their lives, and well over 6,000 were grievously injured. In that very dark day, the light was also extinguished in one of Christ’s churches as St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed and buried in rubble.

As we approach next year’s 20th anniversary of this devastation and darkness, the phoenix is on the verge of rising from the ashes. And the hopeful and loving light of Orthodox Christianity will again shrine brightly at Ground Zero for the whole world to see and experience.

The story of St. Nicholas Shrine is one of many challenges, roadblocks and setbacks. At the same time, it is also a chronicle of triumph over adversity, generosity and hope. By the grace of God, and due to the extraordinary stewardship of countless faithful people and organizations throughout the journey, construction is beginning again, and by the 9-11-21 20th anniversary we hope to open the doors to welcome all in Christ’s redeeming love at what will likely become the most visited church in America.

A most talented leadership team has been able to raise the money and implement best practices to properly complete this monumental task. On July 1, 2020, you will have a chance to hear directly from them as they tell the captivating story of ups and downs and the hope that this functioning house of God, and symbol of peace, will represent.

As on-site construction recommences soon, the July 1, 2020 First Wednesday Stewardship Calling Program on Ancient Faith Radio will help begin the process of letting this “light of the world” start to penetrate the darkness. Join our spiritual, financial, operational and construction leaders, Fr. Alex Karloutsos, Dennis Mehiel, Michael Psaros and Richard Browne as they share the story of this incredible journey.

This live internet radio program begins at 8:00 p.m. Eastern (7 Central; 6 Mountain; and 5 Pacific) and you can tune in here: https://www.ancientfaith.com/radio/live or on any of the other live-streamed Ancient Faith Radio social media platforms. We also welcome your questions at: 1-855-AFRADIO (1-855-237-2346).

“You are the Light of the World…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14,16). Through St. Nicholas Shrine, the light of Orthodox Christianity will indeed shine more brightly, and we will be able to all join together to glorify our Father in Heaven.
