With the blessing of the Bishop Vasilije of Srem , Deanery of Srem-Karlovci organized a seminar for religious teachers in the diocesan deaneries of Srem-Karlovci, Podunavlje and Ruma on January 30, 2021.

The seminar was designed and led by the protopresbyter-staurophor Dragomir Sando,PhD, who is the coordinator for religious education for the Diocese of Srem. As the host, the rector of the Karlovci Theological Seminary, archpriest Jovan Milanovic, and the Diocesan dean of Srem-Karlovci, Slobodan Vujasinovic, the head of Peter and Paul Church in Srem-Karlovci, greeted the seminar. The seminar was attended by the diocesan deans of Ruma, Sreten Lazarevic, and Podunavlje Gavro Milanovic.

Speakers at the seminar were: protopresbyter-staurophor Radomir Popovic, PhD on the topic of Canonization of Saints in the Orthodox Church, archimandrite Stefan, abbot of Veliko Remeto Monastery on the topic of Monasticism and the role of monasteries in the mission of the Church; archdeacon Radomir Rakic; Milos Gudovic, a religious teacher from the Ruma schools “Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj” and “Dusan Jerkovic”, while English teacher Sanja Simic de Graf spoke about the methodological possibilities in modern religious education.

The participants of the seminar visited the Library of the Karlovci Theological Seminary, where they were greeted on behalf of the rector by Professor Nenad Stojanovic. An agape feast was prepared for all participants in the seminar in the seminary hall. The rector presented the participants with appropriate gifts, a monograph of the Cathedral Church of Sremski Karlovci and the school magazine Karlovacki bogoslov.

Thanks to the project “Come to me, all of you, I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28), for which the seminary “St. Arsenije” in Sremski Karlovci received financial support from the Ministry of Culture and Information, technical means were procured, which enabled work on the signature and digitalization.

While arranging the books, some books dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries were found, as well as many manuscript textbooks. Some of them are: Introduction to the Holy Scriptures of the New Testament by nona Zremski, Phonetics of the Russian language by Djordje Jazic, Liturgics of Jovan Zivkovic, History of the Christian ChurchPart I, by Professor M. Jaksic. A special fund is the Library of Duke Momcilo Djujic, which he handed over as a gift to the library of the Karlovci seminary. The current number of books in the library’s holdings is approximately between 25,000 and 35,000 books.
