Serbian state to cover full restoration of historic Monastery of Hilandar on Mt. Athos

An initiative spearheaded by Serbian President Alexander Vucic has led to a major donation by the Serbian State to the Holy Monastery of Hilandar, on Mount Athos.
The donation will cover the complete restoration of the premises destroyed by fire at the monastery in March 2004.
The blaze devastated approximately half of the walled complex. Thankfully, the monastery’s library, which contains thousands of rare books and manuscripts, along with the Holy Icons, were untouched.
