Seven Greek Orthodox Churches shut down in Melbourne due to COVID-19
The shutting down of 10 postcodes across Melbourne due to COVID-19 outbreaks has lead to the closure of various churches around the area for the sake of public health.
In this framework, Archbishop Makarios announced to public worship at eight Orthodox Churches which are in the danger zone.
These churches are:
1. Holy Trinity, Footscray,
2. St Paraskevi, St Albans,
3. St Dimitrios, Ascot Vale,
4. Panagia Soumela, East Keilor,
5. St Basil’s, Brunswick,
6. St Eleftherios, Brunswick,
7. St Nektarios, Fawkner.
During this time, funerals and other sacramental rites will be performed at alternative churches or in closed family circles to adhere to government Stage Three protocols.
