Students of the Theological Institute of Saint John of Damascus share and event with SOS
On Sunday, December 1rst, 2019, the second year students at the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology – Balamand held an educational event in the parish of St. Phocas in Kaftoun for the sons and daughters of the SOS village – Kfarhay, Batroun. This activity is part of the pastoral program at the Theological Institute, with the target to train students on children counseling, especially children who have lost their parents.
The meeting was blessed by the presence of His Eminence Silouan, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Mount Lebanon. The children and their tutors attended the Divine Liturgy, and then had a meal prepared by the women’s committee in the village. After that, they were then divided into educational groups for an hour.
At the end of the activity, Metropolitan Silouan distributed gifts and clothes from the parish. He also had a conversation with the children about their lives and learning experience.
Then, His Eminence met with the Theology students who held this pastoral activity. He asked them about the lessons that they learned and the impressions formed during the event.
