The Ecumenical Patriarch and the Patriarch of Bulgaria on Imbros
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived on the afternoon of Tuesday, 9 June, in his birthplace, the island of Imbros, together with His Holiness Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria, in order to celebrate his name day on the island for the first time.
At the port, they were warmly welcomed by the local Hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, the clergy of the Metropolis, and a large gathering of faithful.
The two Primates proceeded immediately to the Metropolitan Church of Panagia of Imbros, where they venerated the holy shrine.
The Ecumenical Patriarch then delivered an address welcoming Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria, who responded with warm words of gratitude.
The celebrations continued with a visit to the village of Agioi Theodoroi, the birthplace of His All-Holiness, where students from the Greek Community Schools of Imbros presented a festive programme in honour of the two Primates.
