The Feast Day of Pentecost at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Cairo
Pentecost was once again celebrated in an atmosphere of profound spiritual joy in Cairo, as the beautifully illuminated and festively adorned Community Church of Saints Constantine and Helen warmly welcomed members of the Greek community.
On Sunday, 31 May, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated, presided over by His Grace Bishop Stephanos of Hippo, assisted by the Very Reverend Archimandrites Kallinikos and Anthimos. The hymns were chanted by the Greek Community of Cairo’s Protopsaltis, Mr Konstantinos Michalakopoulos.
Following the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Vespers of Kneeling was celebrated. The clergy knelt reverently before the Holy Doors and offered the appointed prayers of the feast.
In his homily, Bishop Stephanos extended festive greetings to all, praying that they might enjoy many blessed years through the grace of the Holy Spirit. With paternal love and humility, he encouraged the faithful “to beseech the Holy Spirit to come and dwell within us, strengthening our lives, guiding our steps, and transforming our hearts into living temples of God’s presence.”
The celebrations concluded with refreshments served at the Scout Hall.
