The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrated in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau

On Friday, 27th of September 2019, Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The arch-pastor was assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean and Metropolitan Secretary, and the synaxis of priests and deacons of the holy place.

Liturgical responses at the Liturgy were provided by the Cathedral’s Choir directed by Angela Angheni.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross reminds the Christian world about an event happened in the fourth century, when at the order of Holy Emperor Constantin, the Lord’s Tomb and Cross were found in Jerusalem. Celebrating this event in the patriarchal Cathedral, patriarch Macarios rose the Lord’s Cross so that it could be seen by the multitudes gathered in the shrine. This event is celebrated by Orthodoxy since then, known as the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Cristians worship the Holy Cross as the arm of salvation, because the passions of Christ, His death on the Cross, and His Resurrection lead to the salvation from eternal death of all those believe in Him.

Reminding of the Lord’s death on the Cross, this feast is always celebrated with fasting.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir conducted a Te-Deum Laudamus service, thanking God for abundant blessings.

The Service of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was live broadcast on the National Television, with liturgical commentaries offered by journalist Iulian Proca.
