The Order of the Cross of the Holy Sepulchre Conferred Upon the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Jordan
During a ceremony marked by warmth and cordiality, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All of Palestine and Jordan, conferred the Order of the Cross of the Holy Sepulchre upon Her Excellency Irene Riga, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, in recognition of her distinguished efforts and valuable contributions in advancing Jordanian-Greek relations and in supporting the Orthodox Church, Mother of Churches, on the occasion of the nearing conclusion of her diplomatic service in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos delivered an address in which he expressed his deep appreciation for the Ambassador’s distinguished diplomatic role and her contributions throughout her years of service. His Eminence Archbishop Christophoros of Jordan also spoke of Her Excellency’s devotion to the Church and the strong bonds she cultivated with Jordanian families over the past years, wishing her continued success in her future responsibilities and forthcoming diplomatic assignment.
For her part, Ambassador Riga expressed her gratitude to the Church, friends, and the Greek diplomatic mission. She also praised the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and the noble and friendly Jordanian people, expressing her wishes for the Kingdom’s continued prosperity and for the close Jordanian-Greek relations to witness further progress and advancement.
The ceremony, held at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Jordan in Amman, was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Imad Hijazin, a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, diplomats, consuls, public figures, and friends of the Ambassador.
