The Sacrament of the Holy Unction at the Patriarchate
On the afternoon of Monday, 23rd December 2025 / 5th January 2026, at the Patriarchal and Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, following Vespers, the Sacrament of the Holy Unction was celebrated, as a preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ.
In accordance with the rite of the Church, the Sacrament of the Holy Unction was presided over by His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, concelebrated with six Hierarchs together with Him, so that they might be seven in number.
Upon the completion of the Holy Unction, His Beatitude was anointed together with the Hierarchs, and all anointed the Holy Sepulchre Fathers—the monks, the nuns, and the faithful who had come—unto healing from every infirmity of soul and body, and unto every help.
