Present at the Divine Liturgy was His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church, who attended from the synthronon of the Patriarchal Church. His Beatitude is on an official visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, accompanied by Their Eminences Metropolitan Thomas of Qusia and Mir, and Metropolitan Daniel of Maadi, Basatin and Dar El Salam; His Grace Bishop Angelos; Dr Wael Badawi, Ambassador of Egypt to Turkey; as well as clergy and lay associates.

His Beatitude recited the Lord’s Prayer in Arabic during the Divine Liturgy.

The homily was delivered by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa.

Also in attendance were Hierarchs of the Throne, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr Konstantinos Koutras, Consul General of Greece in Constantinople, and a large number of faithful from Constantinople and pilgrims from abroad.

Immediately thereafter, the Patriarchal choirs, under the direction of the Musicologist and Archon Protopsaltis of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Panagiotis Neochoritis, chanted the Polychronia for the two Primates, who exchanged the kiss of love and peace and blessed the congregation.

At noon, an official luncheon was hosted at the Patriarchal table in honour of the Primate of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
