Ukrainian officials to halt transport of Russian natgas towards Europe
Ukrainian authorities have announced a decision to suspend some of the Russian gas exports to Europe, which flow in pipelines through the country. The country’s gas transmission system operator cited interruptions at key transit points a day earlier.
Even amid the Russian invasion, Ukraine has continued to allow the transport of Russian gas through its territory.
The transmission system operator said it was currently impossible to fulfill obligations to European partners, due to “…the interference of the occupying forces.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week thanked the US House of Representatives for approving a bill that foresees Washington delivering 40 billion dollars’ worth of aid to Ukraine.
The measure must now be passed by the US Senate before it can land on US President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
