UN: More than three million refugees have fled Ukraine since beginning of Russian invasion
According to the UN, more than three million refugees have already fled Ukraine. United Nation secretary-general António Guterres gave an update on the number of refugees late on Wednesday, saying: “…The people of Ukraine desperately need peace. And the people around the world demand it. Russia must stop this war now.”

On the battle field, the defense ministry of the UK has released its latest intelligence report, claiming the Russian invasion of Ukraine has “largely stalled on all fronts”.

The report reads: “…Russian forces have made minimal progress on land, sea or air in recent days and they continue to suffer heavy losses. Ukrainian resistance remains staunch and well-coordinated. The vast majority of Ukrainian territory, including all major cities, remains in Ukrainian hands.”

On its part, the Kremlin claimed it was putting “colossal” energy into talks on a possible peace deal with Ukraine, with Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying that “…Our delegation is putting in colossal effort and demonstrates more readiness towards them than the other side… Agreeing such a document, the observance of all its parameters and their implementation could very quickly stop what is happening.”

In a related development, the Romanian Orthodox Church’s Archdiocese of Suceava has from the very first moment of the war in neighboring Ukraine been at the side of the afflicted and refugees. A committee of clerics of the Archdiocese has been established, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Kallinikos, to determine the most effective measures in support of Ukrainian citizens in Romania.
