Veneration of St. Phanourios the Great Martyr today

 The Church today venerates the memory of St. Phanourios the Great Martyr, who lived during the latter part of the Roman Empire and was known to have preached against idolatry. A miracle-working icon of the saint was found on Rhodes, shortly after the island was conquered by the Ottomans in the 16th century, showing 12 images of Phanourios’ martyrdom.
