(VIDEO) The Thronal Feast at the Phanar in the Presence of Pope Leo XIV
A Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at the Phanar, for the Thronal Feast of the Mother Church of Constantinople, commemorating the founder of the Church in Byzantium, Saint Andrew the First-Called Apostle.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided, concelebrating with His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria.
Present also was His Holiness Pope Leo XIV of Rome, whom the Ecumenical Patriarch addressed, with the Pope offering a response.
Messages of peace and brotherhood were sent by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Leo through their respective addresses.
The Ecumenical Patriarch emphasised interreligious dialogue, stressed the need to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, and referred to the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. Pope Leo underscored the need to commit ourselves to the restoration of unity, and spoke additionally on climate issues and artificial intelligence.

The Greek government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Loverdos.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, both Primates blessed the faithful from the balcony of the Patriarchal Residence.
