Youth from Melbourne and Sydney at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Gorgoepikoos, Geelong
GO Youth from the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, organised a visit to the Holy Monastery of Panagia Gorgoepikoos in Geelong, Victoria and a talk by Abbess Kallistheni, for the Orthodox youth from Melbourne and from the Parish – Community of The Resurrection of Christ in Kogarah, Sydney. Present also was His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Melbourne, and His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, Hierarchical Proistamenos of the Holy Church of the Resurrection of Christ.
After the English Divine Liturgy which is held once a month in Geelong, visitors from Kogarah, Sydney, toured and explored the monastery’s beautiful surroundings.
Then, Abbess Kallistheni spoke to the youth, in the new Church which is currently under construction and renovation. The talk, which was spiritually uplifting, focused on issues related to maintaining faith as young people who travel their own paths in life.
The Melbourne youth then treated their visitors from Sydney to lunch on the grounds of the monastery.
GO Youth Melbourne extends its warm thanks to Abbess Kallistheni for her enlightening talk and for the warm hospitality she offered to everyone.
