Patriarch John X from St. Elias Church in Douweila “Our hearts bleed for our beloved martyrs whom we have lost”

Following the tragedy that took place yesterday, His Beatitude John X, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, held a prayer service at St. Elias Church in Douweila. He was joined in prayer by Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II Karim of the Syriac Orthodox Church and Patriarch Youssef Absi of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, along with heads of the churches in Damascus.

Amidst heavy hearts, prayers were lifted for the repose of the souls of the martyrs, the healing of the wounded, and the consolation of all those in mourning.

After the service, His Beatitude, accompanied by Patriarch Aphrem, visited the injured in hospitals, expressing his wishes for their speedy recovery.
