Ecumenical Patriarch receives Former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu at the Phanar
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu on Saturday at the headquarters of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Phanar district of Constantinople.
The meeting took place during Emil Constantinescu’s participation in the 29th Eurasian Economic Summit, where he represented the Institute for Advanced Studies for the Culture and Civilization of the Levant, whose Scientific Council he chairs.
According to organisers, the meeting at the Phanar also continued the religious and cultural dialogue initiated during Constantinescu’s presidential term between 1996 and 2000.
During the discussion, the former Romanian president presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with the editorial project “Books of Cultural Diplomacy,” through which the Institute seeks to promote publications dedicated to intercultural dialogue and spiritual heritage.
The two sides also discussed the projects of the World Congress of Syriac Studies and the Conference on Christian Arab Studies, organised in partnership with the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy and the Romanian Academy under the auspices of the Romanian Parliament, scheduled to take place from 3 to 7 August.
