Sixth Monday of Great Lent; feast day of Holy Hieromartyr Paphnutius

Today, Monday, April 19, marks the 6th Monday of Great Lent, with the Church venerating the memory of Holy Hieromartyr Paphnutius, as well as the Holy Martyrs Theodore, his mother Philippa, Dioscorus, Socrates and Dionysius – who suffered during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius in the second century, in the southwest Asia Minor city of Perga.

The previous day, Sunday, during the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent the Orthodox Church commemorated our Righteous — Mother Mary of Egypt.
