Haghia Zoni venerated in monastic estate of Porto Lagos, NE Greece

Scores of faithful in the Xanthi and Komotini regions of extreme northeast Greece arrived at this monastic estate of St. Nicholas, at the Porto Lagos site, to venerate the Cincture of the Theotokos, known as the Haghia Zoni, or Holy Sash in Greek.

A special All-Night Vigil was held at the Cathedral from Sunday evening until the early morning hours of Monday, presided by the Metropolitan of Maronia and Komotini, His Eminence Panteleimon.

The Haghia Zoni of the Blessed Virgin Mary was temporarily conveyed this month from the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, first to the northern city of Drama, then to Porto Lagos, and finally, to the southern city of Corinth.
