Archbishop of Australia addresses pro-life rally in Sydney

The newly enthroned Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios addressed a large crowd on Tuesday in Sydney at a “Stand For Life” rally in opposition to a proposed bill decriminalizing abortion, draft legislation currently before the New South Wales parliament.

Organized in part by several Christian lobby groups, Archbishop Makarios joined a number of ecclesiastical leaders from different Christian denominations, as well as state and federal office-holders.

“I guess we are all united,” the Archbishop said in opening his address, while adding: “No law should take away a child’s right to life, let alone take it away in such a barbaric manner.”
