Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II officiates at 65th mass baptism of infants
The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, over the weekend officiated at the 65th mass baptism of infants, held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.
Some 1,600 infants were baptized into the Orthodox faith, with the number of baptisms receiving the direct blessing of the Georgian Patriarch now exceeding 44,000.
In a reverent blessing, His Holiness and Beatitude underlined that “…Christ baptized 1,600 children. May the Lord give strength to the nation; may the Lord bless our nation with His peace.”
