Delegation from the Patriarchate of Alexandria at the Ecumenical Patriarchate
His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew officiated on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Divine Liturgy at the all-sacred Patriarchal Church of St George in the Phanar. The members of the official Delegation of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, Their Eminences, Metropolitan Gregory of Cameroon, Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia, His Grace Bishop Theophilos of Toliara and Southern Madagascar, as well as His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatios of Demitriados and Almyros, Hierarch of the Most Holy Church of Greece, and faithful from the city and abroad.
The Day before, Saturday, January 22, His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received a hearing from the Archbishops of the Church of Alexandria, who presented him with a Letter from His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, regarding the situation of Patriarchal Throne of Alexandria.
In the afternoon of the same day, His Holiness, accompanied by the above mentioned Hierarchs and by the Archdeacon Father Paisios, went to the headquarters of the Association of Children and Youth Housing Workers, where he cut the traditional Vasilopita and addressed paternal speeches to the members of the Board of Directors.
He then attended the awards ceremony of the winners of the first photography competition, organised by the Community of Neochori, in memory of journalist-photographer Nikolaos Magginas, which took place in the ceremony hall of the Lyceum. The Patriarch congratulated the distinguished photographers and the organizers, while he spoke with emotion about the work and the dedicated years of service of the late co-worker and collaborator Mr Nikolaos Magginas.
The ceremony was attended by Hierarchs, the Deputy Minister of Education and Religions of Greece HerExcellency Mrs. Zetta Makri, the Consul General of Greece in Constantinople, Her Exellency Mrs. Georgia Soultanopoulou, and a small number of guests, as, due to the pandemic, the event was broadcast online.
