Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Patriarch Daniel meet Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan in Bucharest
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel met on Tuesday with the Prime Minister of Romania at the Victoria Palace in Bucharest.
The two Church leaders were welcomed by the head of government in the “Muntenia” Hall. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan expressed his joy at receiving the visit of the two delegations.
“We are honoured to welcome you today to the Government of Romania. I want to congratulate you on the recent celebration,” said Prime Minister Bolojan.
He also congratulated His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on the consecration of the mosaic iconography of the National Cathedral.
A Beautiful Conclusion
The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his appreciation for the warm reception at the Government of Romania and for the hospitality shown by the Romanian people throughout his five-day visit.
“This visit to the Government of Romania could not be a more beautiful conclusion — a fitting end to the five days we have spent here among the very hospitable and welcoming Romanian people,” His Holiness said.
“The reception and all the ceremonies were extraordinary, well organised. The gifts were countless and deeply moving — all inspired by the respect and love that His Beatitude shows toward the Mother Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate,” he added.
The Ecumenical Patriarch offered his blessing to the Prime Minister of Romania and to the entire team under his leadership.
At the end of the meeting, Patriarch Daniel recalled that this was the 13th visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to Romania, including two visits made during his time as Metropolitan of Philadelphia.
