Today is also the feast day of the Theotokos of the Life-giving Spring. This miracle-working spring lies outside the imperial city of Constantinople, towards the district of the Seven Towers.

A very large and most beautiful church named in honor of the Theotokos, the Virgin Mary, stood at the site since early Christian times, while it had been built in roughly the middle of the 5th century by the Emperor Leo the Great.
