General assembly of Middle East Council of Churches convenes in Egypt for the first time
The president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on Tuesday received the heads of churches participating in a general assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, which was held in Cairo.
The General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches was convened in Egypt for the first time since the establishment of the council in 1968.
In greeting primates of Christian Churches of the Middle East, the Egyptian President affirmed that Christians in all Arab countries are an integral part of the texture of Arab society.
The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, was among the primates to attend the general assembly, as was the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, His Beatitude John X.
