Georgian Ambassador discusses Orthodox media cooperation during visit to Romanian Patriarchate
Her Excellency Tamar Beruchashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Bucharest, visited the Romanian Patriarchate on Wednesday, where she held discussions with representatives of Trinitas TV and Basilica Travel.
The meeting was attended by Archdeacon Gheorghe-Cristian Popa, Director of Trinitas TV, alongside Oana Lungu and Father Mihai Profiroiu from the Basilica Travel Agency. The ambassador was accompanied by David Chachava, adviser at the Embassy of Georgia in Bucharest.
Monk Augustin Coman, Patriarchal Counsellor and Coordinator of the Department for External Church Relations of the Romanian Patriarchate, also took part in the talks.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the potential for establishing a cooperation protocol between Trinitas TV – the television channel of the Romanian Patriarchate – and Ertsulovneba – the television channel of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The proposed agreement would include joint actions aimed at strengthening inter-Orthodox relations, promoting shared Christian values, and supporting the media mission of both Churches, according to a statement released by the Department for External Church Relations at the end of the meeting.
In this regard, the possibility of exchanging video productions between the two television stations was discussed, as well as prospects for co-producing media content, including documentary films on the history and spirituality of Orthodoxy in Romania and Georgia, thematic programs on Orthodox feasts, common saints, Christian moral values, and interviews with hierarchs, theologians, and professors from both Churches.
Other discussion points included translating and adapting video materials into both Romanian and Georgian, potential study visits, and experience-sharing exchanges between the editorial teams of Trinitas TV and Ertsulovneba.
Additionally, opportunities to enhance pilgrimage exchanges were identified to raise awareness of Romanian Orthodoxy in Georgia and promote Georgian Orthodoxy in Romania.
At the end of the meeting, Her Excellency visited the “Patriarch Teoctist” Aula Magna in the Patriarchal Palace.
