Heraklion: Musical and dance performance held as part of the 60th Anniversary of the return of the Holy Skull of Saint Titus
On the evening of Sunday, 14 June, a musical and dance performance was successfully held in Heraklion’s Saint Titus Square, attracting a large crowd. The event was organised by the Holy Archdiocese of Crete and the Cathedral Church of Saint Titus as part of the celebrations marking the sixtieth anniversary of the return of the Holy Skull of the Holy and Glorious Apostle Titus the Apostle, the First Bishop of Crete.
The event featured acclaimed artists Michalis Chairetis, Kostas Kakoudakis, Michalis Petsakis and Giannis Sopasis (Vrouvoyiannis), while the “Lazaros and Manolis Hnaris” Folklore Association presented traditional dances, offering a special musical and cultural tribute inspired by the rich traditions of Crete.
His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete warmly thanked the performers, noting that “they carry the ethos and tradition of Crete in their hearts, and what they present is authentic.” He concluded by stating: “This is Crete and no other—the Crete of Saint Titus.”
The event was organised with the support of the Region of Crete and constituted another significant highlight in the commemorative celebrations dedicated to the historic anniversary of the return of the Holy Skull of Saint Titus.
The Holy Archdiocese of Crete expressed its sincere gratitude to all those involved in the organisation of the event, the artists, dancers, and the many attendees whose presence contributed to its success and to the promotion of the region’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
