Metropolitan Nicolae discusses training Latin American theology students in Romania
His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas met last week with Rev. Associate Professor Dr Cezar-Paul Hârlăoanu, Dean of the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, to discuss the possibility of training young people from Latin America who wish to study Theology in Romania.
His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae mentioned specific cases: one young man from Venezuela, four from Chile, and one from Colombia, all of whom have expressed interest in continuing their theological education in Romanian.
The discussions also covered the possibility of granting Erasmus scholarships to Romanian theology students who wish to take part in exchange programs within Romanian Orthodox parishes in North and South America.
The delegation attending the meeting also included Fr. Iulian Aniței, serving at the Romanian Orthodox parish in Houston, Texas, and Fr. Călin Barbolovici, from the Romanian Orthodox parish in Troy, Michigan.
Metropolitan Nicolae and Vicar Fr. Daniel Ene were in Romania from October 22 to 26, together with the diocesan delegation that participated in the consecration of the mosaic iconography of the National Cathedral.
