Patriarch of All Romania Daniel: ‘Orthodox icon is an invitation for prayer’

The Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, during a sermon on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, noted that “true faith is significant, because it opens to us the heavens.”
His Beatitude added: “The Orthodox icon is an invitation for prayer; the icon is not placed in the church to simply admire its beauty, it is placed in the church so we can join the Saints in prayer. The Saints pray for us, and call us to prayer. When we pray in an Orthodox Church, we feel that we are not praying alone, but in unison with the Saints.”
