Patriarch of Russia Kirill chairs meeting of com’t established to focus on status of Vilna-Lithuania Diocese

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, this week chaired the inaugural meeting of an ecclesiastical committee established to focus on the status of the Vilna-Lithuania Diocese. The meeting took place at the Patriarchal residence at the Danilov Monastery.

The committee members are tasked with studying and processing information dealing with the Diocese, within the framework of the Republic of Lithuania’s constitution, and with the Moscow Patriarchate expressing hope over the rights of Orthodox faithful in the Baltic country.

A final report by the committee will be submitted to the Russian Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod.
